The Alabama Grocers Association (AGA) is a statewide trade association representing Alabama’s grocery retail industry since 1990. With over 300 member companies—and more than 90% of the state’s retailers—AGA proudly serves as the unified voice of Alabama’s grocery community. Our membership also includes wholesalers, manufacturers, brokers, distributors, and other service providers, creating a comprehensive network dedicated to strengthening the entire food industry. We remain fully dedicated to assisting our members in all areas of the industry and to staying at the forefront of the issues they face every day.
Our Mission: The Alabama Grocers Association is committed to advancing the success of Alabama’s food industry through proactive advocacy, industry education, strategic public relations, and valuable networking opportunities.
WHAT CAN AGA DO FOR YOU?
Legislation
Legislation and lobbying efforts on key bill and issues affecting the grocery industry is our number one priority. Each year, numerous pieces of unwanted and unnecessary legislation are defeated by our agents in Montgomery, saving our members thousands of dollars in taxes and onerous expenses. AGA is the voice of the grocery industry in Alabama.
SAC Pac
AGA’s political action fund was created to assist candidates for legislative and other offices who support the food industry. Just one single issue decided in our favor could save you the cost of your contribution many times over.
Relationships
AGA takes pride in the relationship we have with our state and federal agencies and elected leaders. AGA works as a liaison with government agencies at the county, state and federal levels and monitors and acts on regulatory matters impacting the food business.
Alabama Grocers Education Foundation
The Alabama Grocers Education Foundation (AGEF), founded in 1992, supports the educational and professional development of Alabama’s grocery industry. AGEF has awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships to employees of member companies and their dependents. AGEF also offers tuition reimbursement to help individuals enhance their job skills and advance their careers in the grocery industry.
NETWORKING EVENTS
AGA hosts multiple networking events throughout the year, including the AGEF Spring Golf Outing, the AGEF Fall Clay Shoot, and our premier event, the AGA Annual Show. Our Annual Show builds community through industry networking, educational sessions, and product showcasing in our Exhibit Hall—all set at the beautiful Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort in Florida, with nightly entertainment and receptions. Connecting with key industry partners outside the day-to-day work environment creates invaluable opportunities, develops community, and fosters lasting relationships.
SMALL BUSINESS BUNDLE
